Associated Pez

According to sources, Dave Briski lead singer/guitarist for Salem, OR area band SKAMATIKS recently entered the band into a band demo contest being ran by a Portland Radio Station.

The contest is called The 94.7 NRK New Rock Rumble.Skamatiks from Salem Oregon

Eyewitnesses tell us that early Monday morning, while Dave was enjoying a hot bath, he received a call from the radio station regarding his band's demo. Apparently out of all of the submissions, Skamatiks and 17 other bands were chosen as Semi-Finalists in the 94.7 NRK New Rock Rumble!

Lead singer/guitarist Dave Briski told us, "Just being able to participate in this event is an honor and a privilege that really gets me right here(points towards where he thinks his heart is)".

Skamatiks will be performing on Wednesday Feb 11 at 10PM at Barracuda located at 9 NW 2nd Avenue in downtown Portland. There is a $5 cover charge.

POST New Rock Rumble

Feb 12, 2004
Roiders

Several of our reporters were at the New Rock Rumble Wednesday night and had much useful information to relay back to the staff at skamatiks.com.

Brandon and Dave"The concert at Barracudas was truly amazing! All three of the bands performed quite wonderfully!", quoted Bill.

"Derby started the show off with some great retro sounds that rocked the house!" stated Fred.

"When Perfume took the stage, it was like ' sweet!' mentioned a young man who referred to himself as "Dood".

By the time Skamatiks took the stage, the crowd was fired up and ready to rock! The Salem band played some of the songs off their new demo, as well as their humorous tunes such as "Miranda", and "Crack".

Several audience members requested the Skamatiks song "The Rocket". Lead singer Dave Briski told them," I know you all want us to play the song, but our drummer won't let us!" Jeff Akin

When drummer Jeff Akin was asked to comment about the song controversy later he kicked our reporter in the gut and hit him with a pump-handle powerslam. He later apologized, stating that he though the reporter was Randy "Macho Man" Savage.
